August 13th Robinhood Marine Center, Georgetown, Maine

It's been a long time since the last post. We proceeded up LI Sound to Stonington for a couple of days. Then a long day up to Onset, Ma. getting in at 2:30 in the morning. It was a beautiful night and couldn't resist keeping on going. Spent a few days in Onset doing laundry, groceries, water and fuel. Always enjoy stopping there.
Then leaving at 10:30 am to catch the current for transiting the Cape Cod Canal made it all the way to Maine. Arriving at Robinhood at 2:30 the next afternoon. What an enjoyable sail, sailing most of the way.
Now enjoying Maine for a couple of weeks. Boothbay for a couple of days, Tenants Harbor to meet up with Cape Dory Cruise and on to Carvers Cove on Vinylhaven. Stopped at Calderwood for lunch and short walk on the Island. No lobsters so far this year.  Off to Rockland for one day needed Propane and water.
From there up to Warren Island and Belfast. Had never been to Belfast really enjoyed it for 3 days. After this long beautiful day sailing all the way to Maple Juice.  Then back to Robinhood having to motor the whole way.
We've received an offer on Solmar and need to hang close to Robinhood for a survey. We'll know more later.

July 23rd Pt Jefferson NY

July 14th stayed one more day in Delaware City had a nice visit with Ray and Beth our friends from Texas. They delivered much needed beer and I used the bike to get a few groceries and crab cakes from the local seafood market. Yum!
July 15th headed down the Delaware, nice ride with the tide sailing about half way. Then wind died and we motored the rest of the way to Cape May. Anchored at Coast Guard Station and took off bright and early up the NJ Coast.
July 16th - 17th up the NJ Coast not much wind sailed when we could but motored most of the way. Arrived at Sandy Hook early am, anchored outside the channel in NYC waiting for the tides for transiting the East River. Timed it right and had a very nice trip to Pt Washington.
July 17th - 18th free mooring in Pt Washington, groceries and hardware store stop.
July 19th - 23rd due to weather stayed longer than expected in Pt Jefferson. Anchored 3 nights, Setauket mooring one night and PJL mooring the other. Had our bottom cleaned by Kevin of Barnacle Busters, Solmar may get back to NE a little quicker now!

July 13th

From Baltimore we headed up the Chesapeake to the Sassafras River. Thought the engine was a little sluggish so we stopped at a marina in Georgetown, Md. Sailing Associates can't say enough about this place. They treated us like they'd known us all their lives. Gave us a few ideas to try before charging for the mechanic to look at it. Then took Bob just 45 minutes to bleed some air out of the fuel line and we were on our way. Beautiful spot, not a lot to do but very relaxing. Spent 2 nights on a mooring there and mechanic's time. Bill was only $120.00.
Then on up to Chesapeake City, I lost my wallet so we had credit cards replaced here. Plan was to stay 3 days but weather got in the way and we stayed another day. Today we arrived in Delaware City, getting AutoPilot looked at and tachometer replaced. Will rest and explore tomorrow then hopefully we'll head down the Delaware.

Quick trip to New Bern in a rental car to pick up the van, drove to NH, visited with family and friends and flew back to Baltimore. Thanks Cal for the ride to the airport. Also, thanks to Beth and Ray in the Big Red Truck from Texas for all the rides. Lots of fun excursions.

June 7th

June 5th Arrived at Solomons, Md. Spent the night on anchor. Will move to St Leonards Creek up the Patuxent River to wait out the next round of weather. Anchored at Veras Beach Bar, it's kind of neat like being in the islands on the Chesapeake. LOL

June 4th Reedsville

Weather forecast hasn't been the best, most of the weather has missed us but hasn't been good out on the bay. Tomorrow we'll try to head for Solomons, will probably hunker down there for a few days from what we are hearing for weather right now.

February 7th Still enjoying New Bern

We are still enjoying everything New Bern has to offer.

Mike and Pearl stopped for 2 days on their way south, what a nice surprise.

I went to Florida to meet my Sister and Rowley at my Mom's. Then 2 days at the beach, it was a little cold but we didn't care.
Looks like big foot had been on the beach before us.
Linda picked out a great spot right on the beach to stay.

We've been busy exploring the Outerbanks, visting the Governer's Mansion in New Bern and working on the boat.  Time just seems to fly by.  It's been nice having the car so that we can go on road trips when ever we feel like it. We have a great community of friends here, getting together every morning for coffee, taco night is Wednesday, jazz night is Thursday.  And, of course oysters at MJ's on Tuesday.

Road trip to little Washingtion, where New Bern has bears they have crabs. We're trying to explore a few places to see if we want to visit them by boat.

Shriner's Parade, I've seen a few of these before but a whole parade of nothing but different cars.  They are having a ball even though it was a very cold day.

Oh by the way if you know of anyone that's looking for a boat, please let us know.
We aren't sure what the next step will be, another sailboat, trawler, land yacht, who knows.  Need to sell this one first and we are not in any hurry.

Dec30th Back in New Bern after Christmas with Mom

Returned to New Bern today after spending Christmas with Mom in Lakeland.
Had a nice relaxing stay, helped Mom with a few things. Visited an orange grove, can't go to Florida without getting some oranges. Also lunch with Ernie & Andrea, they came over from Largo. Always fun to see them. Trip down was straight through and one stop on the way back. We found a great Barbeque place called Dukes Barbeque in Walterboro, they even had a drive through. We'll definately stop here again.
Sandhill Cranes on the golf course outside Mom's kitchen window.
Mom and I picking out tomatoes and oranges at the grove.
 History of Tuskegee Airmen
Monument in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen
This is an amazing story, just happened to drive by the sign for this.
